The Battle for Your Safety – Part 5

This past year, battling through all of the COVID related issues, has been one of the greatest challenges of our careers. As we hopefully continue to come out of that difficult period, we know that we must make some difficult decisions if we are going to succeed as a business in the new normal. Our profits have been declining for years, and the time has come that we must act.

Our specific battle is the tension between our valued insurance relationships on one hand and our OEM Certifications on the other hand. We have already parted ways with many insurers in the last ten years over the issues mentioned above. The time may be coming when we simply cannot maintain any preferred insurance relationships because it means continued suppression of labor rates. We just can’t survive any longer without charging higher rates, at least for more complicated and expensive repairs.

But the issue is bigger than that. We value our employees even more than we do our customers, because they are the reason for our success. And the cost of living just keeps going up and up, which unfortunately does not factor into prevailing rates conversations with insurance companies.

We have tried to maintain our insurance partnerships because it makes it easier for you. Without a partnership, the lack of trust in this industry is incredibly costly, with much wasted time spent going back and forth waiting for approval on every little thing. It didn’t used to be this way, but the advent of photo estimates and other factors have led to the evaporation of hundreds of thousands of insurance appraiser jobs that used to handle claims.

Your loyalty has been amazing, and we can’t thank you enough. That is why this is such a difficult decision. Again, we appreciate your understanding and your time reading all this. We will continue to serve as your trusted advisor, and now we ask that you also consider us as your partner to help represent you as we work together to make sure your vehicle gets repaired properly. I hope for smooth sailing; however, if we face headwinds, please know that we are prepared to help in any way we can.

After all this battle talk, we must admit we aren’t really the type of people to do battle with anyone. We’ll do our best to help you, but in the end we choose to let our quality and reputation do the talking. We just want to fix cars and fix them the right way. That’s all we’ve ever done.
